We sort of make turf wars out of anything. A tree hanging over a neighbours fence, a barking dog, being the wrong colour, being any kind of different. Religion just offers fundamentalists a place to express their certainty about things they don't understand in ways that enable them to build waring tribes.
I guess when we speak to somebody who believes the bible to be the inerrant word of G.d there's not much point starting off telling them the great many flaws in such a belief before we get the the main point.
There is a general belief in what G.d is and isn't. As the Creator, clearly He can't enter His own Creation. Secondly, Christ being literally G.d means that G.d at times had bad breath, went to the toilet every day, had body odour and was killed by His own Creation. One moment He is perfection and the next we are told He is human and anything but perfect. They just don't think their claims through, rather they rush to conform.
