Covid is new and has evolved rapidly.

I don't think you are giving enough credit to what has been achieved this year.

Its fortunate covid has become more benign and antivaxxers can say it was an overaction but that has been with the benefit of hindsight.

Maybe covid will be a non issue in the future but new viruses will appear and mRNA vaccines are most likely to feature when new threats appear.
