You don't pay tax on earnings in super on the first $1.7m of your member account. After that the earnings are taxed at 15% and 10% capital gains if held longer than 12 months - proportioned. The fund administrators will use an actuarial calculation to calculate the taxable earnings and allowable deductions - eg say you had $3.4 million in your member account then 50% earnings are taxable.

By the way can anyone advise how long after paying the option exercise fee does it take for fully paid shares to show on a commsec account.
