1-year membership for an individual appears to be about $300 - then you get savings which more than cover that by attending 3 or 4 courses.

Once again you turned a fact: "Corporate membership up to $8000"; into a dismissive claim to suggest that they are undeserving of the accolade.
Just like a cricket club charges $250 to play in a team where you might win best bowler or batter but you still have to perform better than anyone else.
Seems like $300 covers the cost to run the society (with obvious corporate sponsorships from the likes of Holcim and Boral who probably pay the $8000)
