I am curious if anyone has some thoughts on the eventual position ANS will have in this project?
The Anns and updates just seem to read like Ding is acting as a broker and there has been no clear indication of any ANS ownership percentage or entitlement.
(I do understand from the MOUs it appears ANS are in the front line however no involvement detail apart from negotiating agreements has been suggested )
On the surface it does not appear that ANS actually brings anything to the table!
They have no meaningful capital to contribute (even if they get the mythical $100m), have no ownership of the resource, no port / rail permits, no feasibilities or other IP for the project and only appear to be involved to bring the parties together.
Of course there has always been the notion that ANS brought the consortium together however difficult to believe the Chinese have not been playing a long game in regard to this resource
ANS does not have a track record in building railway or port infrastructure so why are they the apparent lead manager in negotiating agreements for this project (going by their own news)?
I know Ding referred to the project as "our project" in his December update!
The initial WAPRC / ANS / SDL deal always appeared just control transactions, so perhaps the end aim was always to get SDL out of the game (SDLs lack of progress certainly aided this!!)
ANS have not however replaced SDL as they apparently have no interest in the resource and involvement is purely with the infrastructure project (which iirc was taken off SDL some time ago?)
ANS initial MOU was with the Replublic of Cameroon and Bestway :-
"...to which the participating parties will work in good faith and negotiate binding documentation for the construction and operation of Railway and Port infrastructure...."
Next MOU was with CR20G & CMEC to :-
"....each company will assist with the formulation of detailed technical and commercial proposals related to the New Project. The eventual aim of these MOU’s is to then negotiate and execute binding agreements for the construction and operation of the Railway, Port and any associated infrastructure for the Project."
"The key next step will be the Company undertaking in-country due diligence and feasibility studies..."
(Does the Replublic of Cameroon now have all previous studies??)
It seems to be just accepted on here that ANS will have a percentage of ownership in the infrastructure project and perhaps I have missed that news but if so what percentage is everyone expecting or what other involvement may they have?
Obviously the infrastructure project is extremely capital intensive and will certainly hinge initially on the now Sangha mining (Bestway) IO resource. The consortium / funders to this project will want their pound of flesh and these types of projects are notorious for budget over runs and inherent risks.
So is the suggestion that ANS will get a percentage of this project in exchange for negotiating a way forward?
Not trying to start a flame war, genuinely curious as to thoughts on ANS position in the projects which is not clear to me.
I know details are unknown at the moment however I am sure some posters on here will have considered these points and have some realistic input / thoughts which might lead to some discussion of substance?
