How do you know that it's a matter of conscience rather than learning?

There are passages in scripture that suggest such. I'm not stating it as fact.
You can put an argument to it being learning rather than concscience.

You don't know a thing about these 'imprisoned spirits,' what they think, how they think, their circumstances, who they are or what they are....yet you confidently claim "the story suggests it's a matter of conscience rather than ability to learn."

To determine that we need to know something about these 'imprisoned spirits' - yet we are told nothing about them.

Nothing? The story says the "inclinations of the thoughts of their hearts" were evil from childhood. It says they were disobedient. They learnt how to be corrupt and violent the story tells. Adam and Eve hid in the bushes when they heard God. Cain asked if he was his brothers keeper and killed his brother. It suggests that kind of behaviour continued on. Evolution maybe. The flood rose when the soon to become imprisoned spirits weren't expecting it. They'd try to get away don't you think? It might act upon their conscience?
And and then, Jesus stands before them in Spirit.
When you read the passages on conscience but again if you haven't hadn't any experience with your conscience then it is unlikely you could put 2 and 2 together on such things.
Besides my conscience comment wasn't specifically on the imprisoned spirits. It relates to the tune you are trumpeting along to the terms of so called salvation and their implications as well.

Meanwhile, you still dance around the question I raised: the terms for our so called salvation and their implications.

Yes, yes, I am dancing the hokey pokey to your tune, next question Mr Trumpeter?
