Having recently read a book called the 3 Trillion Dollar war by nobel prize
winning economist Joseph Stiglitz, and watching Black Hawk Down the other
night, it is evident to me that the area of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is
very much in the sights of the US Army - and indeed the US Govt.

This is because of the ongoing costs of rehabilitation and welfare for
those soldiers who suffer TBI in conflict, not to mention the lack of
productivity from sufferers, its clear that both the US Army and indeed the
US Govt have a lot to gain from any treatment available in this area.

It is very clear that treatment of TBI is high on the agenda of the US Army
– and, simply looking at their willingness to fund NEU to an amount
representing nearly 3 times the current market cap of the coy – is enough
of a confidence vote for me to hold this stock.

We all know Biotechs by their very nature (long lead times, development
costs, and no guarantee that their research will result in a ‘product’) can
be risky investments – but I’m comfortable that when you look at the size
of the problem and the opportunity presented, it’s hard to not get behind
what is going on here.

The Fast track FDA status doesn’t hurt either – and I really think the US
Army funding tells the bigger story here. NEU has boxes ticked that many
equivalent junior bios would kill for.
