I like your thinking.
Could the Mt Carlton transaction a way of forming a business relationship?
EVN habitually sells its aging mines long before they are depleted. I think there's very good mining to be had from Mt Carlton for years to come. What EVN are looking for are long life (15+ year) high ounce deposits (2Moz+).
As part of this transaction, as you mentioned, EVN holds 20% of Navarre shares and own royalties to continue to benefit from the success of Mt Carlton. As that stands, while EVN are receiving economic benefits from the operation, I believe they are relinquishing a large sum of future earnings to Navarre.
Is this prudence on Evolutions behalf? Probably
Is there an ulterior motive here? Possibly.
No one would be stretched to fathom that EVN would have eyed up Navarre's prospects before this transaction.
Do they see potential in Stawell?
Have Evolution aligned themselves with Navarre to be in first position for a possible JV in the future?
Always do your own research,
My best to all holders
