there will always be a value for zip in its ip (customers, data, vendors, tech).
but what the value is, doesn’t look to be much at this point in time, otherwise Dorsey would have made a move for zip.
if rates go up, it impacts more than others and costs will be pushed on, but bigger guys will win out thanks to how they’re warehousing through securitisation along with having the better bargaining position thanks to economies of scale. The other thing is higher rates impact consumer spending.
zip will most likely get acquired, but it depends on whether Larry’s ego (and zips holders) would allow her to go for multiples that he might not want to agree too.
I cannot see how with zips strategy, they will sustain their business plan through increased interest rate, without the need for more and more shareholder hand outs at further dilution.
the inorganic growth just isn’t as impressive as it once was.
