Ballsup,
Below is an apples & oranges comparison regarding a $1500.00 Nuheara Pro price point. Two different but interrelated markets.
$1500.00 USD doesn't seem to be a practical expectation. I don't know the tech level of the Nuheara Pro version but, Costco warehouse stores with hearing aid centers in them sell the Kirkland (house brand) KS 10.0 T for $1399.00 USD for 2 aids & charger. These are made by Phonak and mirror the Phonak Audeo Paradise 90. This is a premium tech tier hearing aid with telecoil and it covers hearing loss from mild to profound. This is a behind the ear, receiver in canal aid which would be a negative for some, especially for people with mild to moderate loss not needing this level of help.
I have severe loss and I am going to Costco this coming week. I went to an audiologist last week and with insurance these aids would cost me $2850.00 a pair. I'm better off at Costco without using insurance by $1450.00. I have used Nuheara Max for about 11/2 years and they definitely helped me but are not capable of meeting my prescription.
Point being, $1500.00 for mild to moderate hearing loss (Pro?) is not a practical price point for volume sales. Costco (US) allows a generous 180 day return policy with a full refund if you don't like them and a 3 year warranty including a 1 time no deductible hearing aid loss protection. $500 to $750 might be closer to reality.
Australia has 12 Costcos (according to Wikipedia) but I don't know if any have hearing centers.
Best regards.
