People buy options expecting the SP to go up.
My example of the sp gaining 4x its current price by expiry date would result in:
Heads investment of 50k x4 value $200k or 300% increase from 50k
Tails investment of 50k x4 value $253k or 419% increase from 50k
If you were to sell the tails at this point and buy heads with the proceeds you would get 1,193,396 shares increasing the holding of 943,396 heads should you have purchased them rather than tails by 26%
