I don't think anyone claimed or expected them to stop transmission ( a new variant put paid to any hope there), slow a bit at best perhaps. The main goal was to vaccinate our underfunded Health Care system and reduce symptoms in the vulnerable. Given Omicron is far more contagious and far less symptomatic (it would seem) that changes everything. Contact tracing, QR codes, vaccine mandates all need to be reconsidered given we have vaccines that targeted different, more virulent strains.

I just hope it does not diminish people's appetite for crazy conspiracies, that levity has been one of the few silver linings in this whole palaver.
