Width is probably not the best term used to describe the intersection.

Width in general terms is usually related to a measurement of distance on the horizontal plane

In this case to determine the width of mineralisation they would need to drill holes either side of 26 to see how wide the mineralisation extends horizontally.

The thickness of the intersection or depth can alter as well depending on the angle of the drill hole that intersect the mineralisation.

example.

If the mineralisation is laying flat relative to the horizon and the drill hole is vertical (perpendicular) then say a 2 metre intersection would have a true thickness of 2 metres.
If however your drill hole is drilled at a 45 degree angle into the same mineralisation then the thickness of the intersection will increase as you are now drilling along strike with the mineralisation.

Hence if the mineralisation is plunging at an angle as is in most cases then you would try to angle you drill hole so that it is perpendicular or 90 degrees to the orebody to determine the true thickness.

Hole 26 intersected 11 metres of mineralisation from 144 metres downhole, ie 144-155 metres.

One last point this is not the true depth from surface as the drill hole was angled so it is in fact closer to the surface then the 144 metres stated
