People ask why be so petty to correct language inaccuracies?

Firstly for the obvious reason of more accuracy.

Secondly to stop people spreading the mistakes to others. (this is the big one, since I've been on social media I'm starting to make mistakes that wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been exposed to those errors. our brains start encoding them as correct, spreading the errors)

Finally to increase the focus on the substance of what is being said. It's the reverse of petty; if you spell correctly and have proper use of words it improves the credibility of the message. By and large. Of course if what you're saying is so controversial that nobody wants to hear it no amount of correct grammar or language use will save the situation. Then you can only hope that eventually people become more tolerant and open.
