Personally I can't get excited about the Laterite Nickel - there are many of these resources around, the capital cost to develop is typically massive ($1 billion plus), historically they have had very limited success eg. BHP wrote off nearly $3 billion on its Ravensthorpe development etc. Now I know backers will say this time it's different, Ni is in a long term bull market etc and I do agree that Ni is in a bull market, however for me I still can't get excited about laterite nickel. Even if a project or two do get up, will ARL's KNP be one? MLX is in the process of spinning off what it claims is the best Ni laterite development story. There are many of these huge capital cost projects around (in nickel laterite, magnetite, vanadium, rare earths etc) and hardly any of them see the light of day as the capital hurdle is simply too large and they can't secure the required funding.

IMO Ni sulphide is the main game - this is valuable and sought after and IMO will only get more so over the next few years. ARL has reported success in drilling of Ni sulphide at Emu Lakes. Let's see if the can go on with it and identify a meaningful and commercially viable Ni sulphide deposit.
