With the exception of Tekkorp and Matt Davey (both 13.4%), no one else has more than 6.3% to my knowledge so they'd have to have at least 2 of the top 10 shareholders (from the report I saw, Vanguard only owns 2.01) if not more to get this much stock on loan.
My view is they won't be able to continue to get the supply that they've had in the past. They are running one heck of a risk already (it would take over 3 weeks buying 100% of average daily turnover to cover their shorts) and we'd all be well and truly clued into it before they got anywhere near that. Can't imagine the company needs to raise cash since they have $100m in the bank, so they can't cover easily in a raising (and I think the board would be making sure it doesn't go to the shorters even if they did).
Accumulation strategy makes the most sense (ie push the price down with a view to accumulate and then happy to see it come back up if you've bought more than you shorted).
