What a silly thing to say.
I work in the corporate sector, and so many deals or opportunities to present are opened for small companies with great products to the big houses, because of "the network"
It doesn't matter how they get in, if their product is good they will consider it. I sincerely doubt ANY company is going to waste time and resources testing a product because of a "mate" who used to work there.
