Thanks for your reply. I understand this but wheat prices aren't solely dictated by the US$. So whilst the wheat price will adjust in Aus$ terms this does not necessarily mean lower wheat prices.

Personally I think the equilibrium of the world economies is changing. The US$ is no longer regarded the safe haven it once was. Delinking of sharemarker performace from the US$ is a real probability. The question will then be how is the Aus$ performing against other world currencies rather than the US$. As it is, almost all world currencies have risen significantly against the US$.

Something will have to give as farmers will not be able to survive if the reliance is on the recovery of the US$ leading to higher commodity prices.

Just an opinion of course.
