One of my best meals ever was several years back when ex and I would go to Bali a few times a year for very short ‘long weekend’ gourmet escapes.
The exchange rate was good, fares cheap, and luxury was had at economy prices.
..Early departure from Perth with hand luggage the only impedimenta had us out of the airport in Denpasar and into a taxi in just a few hours
- delivered straight to Seminyak’s coastal Petitenget Temple.
….. Through the gate (nice final ritual transition from Perth to paradise) had us in the open air environs of La Lucciola Restaurant - mellow ocean breezes lifting off the ocean a few yards in front of lawns, frangipani trees and an old stone shrine.
The first time (it was the best time {as it is so often?}).
Fresh passionfruit granita and a lightly seared tuna steak - not sushi but savoury and rare and soft as butter.
In the chewing it was hard to tell where my tongue ended and the food began.
Thanks for reviving that memory fellow tuna eaters
