I think we are all cursed with a subjective interpretation of others.... we all want to believe that what we say is right and true to reality.
I've read that its important to know one's own limits but finding such limits involves a sense that there are others who know vastly more than I do and this challenges my self-esteem and leaves me feeling like a complete idiot when in the company of genius.
our interlocutor above seems to have a similar sense of limitations to most people and this is her/his mistake.
She/he is doubly unfortunate in that she/he is caught in a political echo-chamber which keeps her/him thinking that she/he is way above the norm.
Poor old norm never gets much of a chance in the shouty echo-chamber -------
