Madrid: many investors seduced by Paluku
At the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, the Democratic Republic of Congo exhibits its potential, in 9 scattered boxes, in a very attractive stand.
Thousands of investors from around the world admire Congolese ingenuity. Very enterprising, the Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya has multiplied contacts with industrialists wishing to come and invest in the DRC. Most, moreover, have bitten. Paluku's seductive talk paid off. The ex-governor of North Kivu detailed the advantages that economic operators would gain by investing in Congo. He highlighted the Master Plan for the Industrialization of the country, the operationalization of special economic zones but above all the manufacture of electric batteries with the large deposits of lithium that his country abounds. On occasion, he told his interlocutors the way to the DRC, which, in his eyes, is the best destination in the world to do business.
The Minister of Tourism, Modero Nsimba and some national deputies from Kinshasa, also visited the 9 boxes, in order to realize and reassure themselves of the work carried out by the technical teams. These include the stand of the Ministry of Industry, the Fund for the Promotion of Industry (FPI) and that of the National Tourist Office (ONT). To this are also added those of the Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature (ICCN), Congo Airways and the travel agency, destination DRC-Paali Travels of Paluku Vihundirwa (PLK).
The Democratic Republic of Congo is known for its subsoil full of mineral resources. The participation of its delegates in this International Tourism Fair aims to attract more foreign investment. The country has always positioned itself as the most competitive destination in the world to set up battery manufacturing plants. It wants to capture part of the “8 trillion dollars” in revenue from the sale of electric vehicles by 2025, and “46 trillion by 2050”. It relies on its reserve of 400 million tons of lithium and 25 million tons of cobalt to supply this industry.
