Fair question, though it feels unlikely given this cash return was generated purely from the sale of a part of a business (largely in line with the Capital return requirement). I believe if rejected the intent from AVA was to buy back shares instead, that was in part why they had process to do both. If memory serves I think they said they could vary the size of buy back depending on ATO's response, so may mean some dividend and some buy back, but wouldn't know for sure until we get the ATO response.
