High IQ alone doesn't necessarily translate to performance. Mental illness has a high correlation to IQ so it will depend on every high IQ individual how much you can extract from them. You may find someone with a high IQ quite capable for periods and then see them fall off the cliff and perform worse than an average person due to lack of motivation or other factors.
But the reality is quite simple and you can extrapolate into other things, someone with an IQ of 150 will beat one million people that have an IQ of 100, all working together, in the game of chess. Is that person worth one million people? No, not really, but in certain situations those high IQ people will be the ones keeping you alive.
