I would love to be a fly on the wall in Labor HQ (or maybe I wouldn't, but anyway)
You can just imagine the "spin" machine going into overdrive and smoking. Zoom, zoom, zoom!!!!
It will be, "how can we put a spin on that?" and "how can we put a spin on this?"
Panic stations!!!! Every man for himself!!!
And where is Ms Julia Gillard in all of this?
Well, the acting PM is calmly going about her daily agenda, keeping hairdressing and makeup appointments, smiling sweetly, having a nice latte, and staying right out of the border protection debate, and trying to engage herself in harmless environmental issues and the Traveston Dam Anna Bligh fiasco. She is even praising Peter Garrett for his leadership on the issue.
Mr Rudd may be grinning and still rating highly in the polls, but, as we all know, two weeks is a long term in politics.
Are we still thinking early election ladies and gentlemen?
I think not.
If I was in the opposition, I would be directing every question during Question time, directly at Ms Gillard. Doesn't matter what questions, just keep her occupied and see how Mr Rudd reacts.
You don't want to give Rudd the opportunity to rave on and avoid the questions. We all know he does that. Focus on Ms Gillard, and watch the PM squirm. Nothing wrong with a bit of "politics".
