Congrats on the holding you have built up. Thats a very healthy accumulation/nest egg.
And also congrats on your sale. I'm sure it was done with a good deal of consideration of the possibilities and was the best choice at the time. Without knowing the details of your financial position, no one but you has the ability or right to judge, but given the information you have volunteered over the years it seems a prudent choice.
I too have sold a few at need and will not hesitate to again in future as circumstances dictate, but very much, the vast majority will be held as long as possible to gain access to dividends that will flow in the future.
Just about the only scenario I have access to whereby I get to have my cake and eat it too.
Feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to accumulate my own hoard which is securing my retirement and will allow my practice of beneficence into the future.
