Totally disagree there Odds.

Your entry price in a stock has zero to do with preserving capital and I should have been clearer to TheOC. Preserving capital has all to do with where the current SP is and where it's heading.
Let's say you have a rounded number of a million shares, while the SP is going up well obviously the value is increasing and at .62 cents there was $620,000 of value. Now that is your capital, your total asset, regardless of entry. Now when the SP began to roll over preserving that capital becomes incredibly important as the prime reason for getting into this investment / trade was to make money. So why would we let that value fall away without any plan to protect it?

The garbage reason of tax requirements is just that, garbage. Blimey, lets make a lot of money and pay a lot of tax, that just a cost of doing business. I can't wait to pay more tax, it should be a goal of everybody's. Remember the more tax you pay, the more capital you have to keep also.

Today that million share parcel is worth $305,000, and could've, should've, would've games plague the minds of holders and I bet 9 out of 10 holders would have played it differently and I bet they will next time. Boy, we've all learnt the hard way regarding this topic. Well I sure have anyway in the past and still have challengers sometimes.

So once you've entered a stock then that's it, it's locked in, you can't change it but you can and we must always work on exits if we are to protect capital.

All just my opinion, and as you all say, I wouldn't have a clue.
