It's a common misconception that a current retail BRN shareholder cannot buy or sell 1 share.
The only minimum buying/selling requirement is that upon initial buy-in to a company, $500 or more of stock must be purchased.
It's obviously not usually worth buying or selling a single share if the SP is less than brokerage cost.
