I expect the closest period to what we're experiencing now was the DotCom bust after 2000. So unless you're 50+ and had a heap of money in Techs then, you haven't experienced a real Bear Market.
This will grind on and on I expect so news will be our main saviour - if so.
(Unless DrG rotates back in for 15%+ margin. Be interesting to see where he stops selling.)
