Market getting smashed due to uncertainty caused by the U.S. FED's announcement when Powell stated the balance sheet runoff will be in the background and rate hikes would be coming, the last time Powell allowed the balance sheet to runoff whilst increasing interest rates to effectively double tighten back in 2018 the market acted exactly in the same way with a huge downturns.
So with this happening it shakes the confidence out of the market and therefore shows why the markets are being smashed given that fear and uncertainty.
