Bravo, fair enough mate, but this has me fired up. $1666 per mth for research, vs $3000 per mth for an INDIVIDUAL , who was unemployed. So multiply that individual number, by the number of unemployed, and it amounts to BILLIONS. But our fast thinking, ever adaptive, tech smart public service and pollies, choose to throw billions at a bandaid, and $20,000 at a cure.That's the nuts and bolts of it, and IMO, an absolute bloody disgrace.
I'm an avid news reader, and keep reading how govt is going to do this, do that, and position us as world competitors/champions on the tech stage, the medical stage, the space stage, etc, etc. I've been hearing this for yrs, no more so than when Turnbull was in office. Saw no progress then, and none since. I have no political affinity. I think they're all as bad as each other. I'm a dreamer . I'd just like to see an elected govt that is half smart, and spends the outrageous amount of tax I pay them every yr , half smartly.
I have absolutely no doubt we have the minds in Oz to compete with the world on any stage. It's all about priority, and god forbid we have an Australian tech co. come up with an innovative, practical idea to wrestle with the covid problems, before we get our next Oz Open champion, or our next essential $1m commissioned sculpture.
By the way, not a crack at Ash Barty. How impressive is this girl? Love her, and hope she wins.
