I know the "paid downramper" is a big thing on here, but I think it should be mostly put to bed... IF it is a thing, it is nowhere near as widespread as HC generally makes it out.

Every forum on every topic has people who find fun in causing reactions. Trolls - everyone has heard of them.

AFL team forum I visit - "your team cheats and your captain ducks his head for free kicks!" everywhere. Another popular character trolls use is the intentionally "weird" character who plays very dumb. There is nothing new or different with the trolls here.

People need to apply Occam's Razor here - these various characters are just here to troll for reactions.

I often imagine the job interviews for these apparent "downramper" gigs...

Who would pay for this? How would they assess what to pay? If it is by reply, you'd just sign up 40 accounts and reply to yourself endlessly and make a killing.

Just my view, but it seems very conspiratorial to think people are paying for this nonsense, when trolls are a common reality on every corner of the internet. If "paid downramping" is a thing, it is in no way as widespread as it is made out. And if people are being paid for it, they would do a far better job of knowing economics, the technology etc than the nonsense that gets thrown about on here.

My point is if you are paying someone to destroy a company online, they'd be so good at it you wouldn't notice. No one in their right mind would pay for the guff trolls throw about on HC.

Every troll on here is immediately labelled a "shorter" or "paid downramper". The reality is they are limp noodles who get a thrill out of frustrating strangers online. That's the internet, unfortunately.

Just chuckle at their inane ravings. It can be funny if you see the patheticness and absurdity of it. The only way to get trolled online is to react and let yourself be trolled online. If you can't laugh at it and not react to it manually, hit 'ignore' and let that do it for you.

You can't win an argument with a troll because they don't care and there is no argument to win. You respond, they 'win'.
