@mitis .... 'Seismic experts' get it wrong all the time, just ask everyone that invests in oil and gas explorers. There it is 3D seismic and they have been doing it for many decades, yet the 'interpretation' of what's deep underground comes out wrong all the time.
A recent 87% COS, as in 87% probability of success drilling campaign was a recent failure for CVN.
Using Seismic for hard rock deposits is a relatively new undertaking (compared to O&G), yet you guys seem to think the 'experts' have all the answers. All they can do is interpret the signals. They usually do this from known geology at depth, as in prior drill holes and what they recorded. This is known as 'ground truths'. They don't have any 'ground truths' at depth until they drill this hole.
If it was as 'can't miss' as seems to be interpreted by some here, then the real questions asked of management should be about why wasn't this used over 5 years ago instead of a whole lot of other geophysical work. Wasn't gravity the big thing last year until a hole drilled into a gravity high came up a duster??
