Then in 2001 they decided to rewrite history thanks to a single tree ring study of the chart below. The Medieval warm period previously acknowledged completely disappears. They have never offered any explanation to the extraordinary about face. So taken were they of this chart it was on the cover of the 3rd report.
They no longer promote this study since it was comprehensively demolished but they've never repudiated it. They just let it hang out there to be misused by the ignorant. The rapid warming trend looks terribly scary, rising approx 0.5C per decade in a parabolic fashion.
