    Hi Finn

    Thanks for your response.

I have to be honest. It sounds like you are taking the information from that website that appears to be more propaganda then anything else at face value. I think that is naïve.

The displaced Malian people you talk about have in most cases been displaced for a long time. This is not a recent development. Also with a bit of effort and goodwill I would think most of these people would be able to vote. The northern part of Mali is very sparsely populated so whatever percentage of Malian people are displaced, it would be quite small.
Unfortunately despite what your website says I fear there will be no quick solution to the ISIS problem.

This doesn't seem to be valid reason to not peg a date for an election. It does appear to me this is used as a excuse at least to a certain extend. If the current military junta really wants what is best for the people then I am sure they will realize the current international sanctions can become quite damaging. Since they have gone back on previous promises I would expect them to soon come up with a date and make good on what they themselves promised!

And just because there are no riots, doesn't mean the Malian people support the current military junta. I would think that just like in many other countries there will be wide variety of view points. People in China or Russia are also not rioting in the streets, but we know there are parts of the population unhappy with their governments. The same can be said for many western governments...But at least you get to vote. No one voted the current Malian military junta in power!

And I honestly don't know why you would say there can't be fair elections in the north of Mali when the French are there?? Are you suggesting the French would try to influence the elections?
And you keep referring to the French as the colonial power...Now this is obviously factual. But it might be worth mentioning that the French went into Mali in 2014 very much on the request of the Malian government! In no way are they looking to reinstate their colonial power. If that where the case the current military coup would have been the perfect excuse to do so... Instead they are trying to hold these generals to the promises they made.

So the non elected current leaders should simply do what is right and what they promised. And any free nation should do what is within their reasonable power to move them to do so....The longer these military leaders refuse to do so, the more obvious it becomes they are not in it for the people...but for themselves.
