The Corporations Act Section 1020F, states that ASIC may exempt any company from requirements and trading of securities of a company in relation to short selling as amended by the Corporations amendment (Short Selling) act 2008.
So it would appear that a company can apply to ASIC to restrict short selling on its shares.
