Well I've seen plenty a dud male promoted over a more competent female, simply because he was a mate. I have had 3 female friends in senior management (3 different companies) getting completely shafted/sidelined for lower qualified duds (2 of the companies I know all the individuals concerned) within the last 3 months. Two situations are completely egregious.
In your examples, I don't necessarily disagree that some managers may be making decisions based on what they perceive as woke. But like I said, that's no different to making a bad decision because they're a mate. Bottom line is they're not making decisions to optimise the outcome for the company. It's not because they're woke, it's because they're crap managers.
