Why is a growing population necessary for prosperity, Starbust? Beyond a certain size I dont see how the two correlate. I can see how large population growth rates are extremely harmful in some parts of the world, where education or infrastructure hasn't got a hope of being provided to make a better life for many of the inhabitants. While I share your enthusiasm for technology (though I am dubious about a few things like zero point energy) I would like to see the technology in working order first. In any event however, the reality is that were contraception made available to everyone who wanted it, the population would cease growing immediately. In such an event how would you propose to keep the population growing?
