vanadium has a better chance at challenging Li for battery storage. As far as cars go physics suggest that it is impossible for hyrodgen to be better than Li in efficiency and any advantage it currently has could potentially be overturned in a few years. The new Tesla batteries for example charge much faster than the old ones.
