Jack I would sincerely like to know how someone who describes themselves as a lay mathematician who enjoys statistical probabilities, still bets on the outsiders, the 1 in 10, and seemingly has little interest in what is almost a statistical certainty. I am of course referring to your belief in active management having an edge. I would have thought someone with a penchant for statistics would find it hard to look past an 85% fail rate over the long term. I don't mean any ill will, prejudice against your age or your experience. I am just curious, as it seems at odds with your investment philosophy.

Secondly, you mention avoiding funds that grab the media. Yet, you are invested in Magellan, perhaps the most prominent, media grabbing fund in the country. I am assuming your investment predates the Hamish Buffet road shows.

Again, just questions. As for someone with an interest in statistical probability, and avoiding the media grabbers - your affinity for Magellan is of interest.
