Your idea reminds me of my father, who thought that when the economy was down, he'd eventually say "what this country needs is a good war".
It's obviously wrong to confuse "the creative destruction of capitalism" with what RED needs. If the sickness doesn't come then RED wont need the "medicine". If a stock market tsunami comes, then it will knock down everything including the gold price and hence gold miners. What we gold miner investors need is for the general market to struggle but not crash - it took more than several decades for the market to recover from the Great Depression, and almost a decade for companies like SLR to recover from the last crash of the gold price in 2012/13.
If the market volatility increases, but the gold price remains strong, then RED can fully commission KOTH, see a rerate and new SP highs, become an institutional stock in the ASX300 and GDXJ and perhaps M&A to a much stronger entity. BUT if the SP gets knocked for a six, there's no guarantee of a quick rebound, and that would put RED at risk of a low ball takeover ??
A big SP reversal would be a kick in guts for long term shareholders, and superficial technical analysis scenarios should be dreaded, not hoped for!
