Can you imagine the western loss of face if that happens-bullied by Russia who, don't forget has already occupied Donbass and Crimea with little come back.

It then leaves Ukraine permanently open to what Russia is already threatening.

And how will Poland, the Baltic States, Norway feel? Finland & Sweden are already muttering about NATO membership.

And does anyone imagine that VP is not 100% aware of the effect on western stock markets.

This will run and run because VP can make it and the west will look stupid and have ZERO credibility if Ukraine falls.

If you were around for Prague, Yugoslavia, Kuwait and Afghanistan MK1 (1980s) you will not be expecting stability.

A bounce or two is not stability.
