IA member leaves Inatsisartut and starts in marine organization

I have been offered an opportunity that has been difficult for me to get around, writes Sofia Geisler in a post on Facebook. She resigns as a member of Inatsisartut from today.
Sofia Geisler, a member of the Inatsisartut of the Inuit Ataqatigiit, stops as a politician. In future, she will work as a specialist consultant in an organization.
She writes this in a post on Facebook:
- I have been offered an opportunity that has been difficult for me to get around. It's not everyday that I get such an opportunity, and it has obviously not made it easier.
- I have been considering the option for a long time, and the considerations have resulted in me deciding to step down as Inatsisartut member today, and then start as a specialist consultant in Ocean North Kalaallit Nunaat.
Ocean North Kalaallit Nunaat is a non-governmental organization working on marine protection.
Sofia Geisler was elected into Inatsisartut in 2018 and re-elected last year. Since then, she has served as chair of the Committee on Culture, Education, Research and the Church.

Who will take over Geisler's chair in Inatsisartut is still unknown, but it is party colleague Mariia Simonsen who is at the top of the deputy list.
Mariia Simonsen has just had a period as an active national politician because Eqaluk Høegh, who is also a member of the Inuit Ataqatigiit, has been on leave.
Eqaluk Høegh took leave as naalakkersuisoq for the children and youth area this summer due to stress, but has announced that he is ready to work again.

Sofia Geisler thanks both the Inuit Ataqatigiit group, the other parties and those who voted for her.

- Thank you to the Inuit Ataqatigiit group in Inatsisartut, to whom I wish all the best in the future, and to other parties, for the good cooperation of the past years.
Formally, the presidency of Inatsisartut can approve Sofia Geisler's resignation on behalf of Inatsisartut, but it will not be until the next meeting, which is the spring meeting in March, that a deputy can be formally appointed.
