Those in the field will do all the preliminary steps that would occur at a burns unit and then have the patient transported to the nearest burns unit for dermal repair.
The wound has to be debrided and topical antibiotics liberally applied, gel applied to slow fluid loss, dressings applied and IV fluids run ASAP. Then pronto to a burns unit.
All this talk of what would happen if war broke out is just conjecture.
BTM has full approvals for ALL dermal applications in Europe so you could bet your left one that a few suitcases of it would be en route to burns units in neighbouring countries if hostilities began.
The process is the same with ALL dermal matrices
so no specialised training required. BTM application is actually simpler than most so it would be a case of see one, do one, teach one. Especially as cosmetic outcomes wouldn’t be as high on the list as saving lives.
Anyway - as I said - pure conjecture. But you shouldn’t dismiss the use of BTM outrightly as you have.
