I find it strange. How do you get that figure of 19M shares aftermarket? It seems to happen instantaneously and the price jumped to 23.29. How is that possible at all? I play US market and aftermarket trading is like a few hundred shares per minute or even a dozen shares per minute on high volume stocks that have large volume a hundred times of wbc's. I would imagine that the after is closed and only a handful of shares get traded. So, manipulators would try to buy or sell a few hundred shares to move the stock price for low volume stocks.

I checked on my Westpac Broking platform and see that about 4 minutes after 4pm, there was a spike of 17.39 million shares at 23.29. That is way more than the 13m traded during regular hours. Does anyone know about this odd thing in Australia? Does it affect options? I guess not because if it is manipulated after hours, people with options out of the money suddenly find them ITM and the contracts would be exercised automatically.

    I have read this.

I have never traded aftermarket on the ASX even though I use a professional platform and I can do aftermarket in the US.
