@david25; countries including the USA, the UK and Australia have forgotten the lessons from WW1 & WW2 - creating bully-boy alliances inspires other countries to do the same and eventually leadds to global conflict

You'd have to be blind not to have noticed what western countries have done throughout the Middle East and the Mediterranean to countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Yemen is shameful. Small wonder then that when Russia and China build critical infrastructure such as pipelines and cross continental railways and offer economic support that they respond positively.

NATO's ill-conceived decision to pour weapons into the Ukraine to prop up a dodgy government and do to Russia what the USA objected to so strongly during the Cuban Missile Crisis was always going to provoke a reaction from Putin.

The decision by Turkey to apparently cooperate with Russia should make drongos including Morrison, Dutton and Payne re-calibrate their brain cells. It's half a world away from Australia and we should steering clear of yet another Coalition quagmire.
