@picastoc I am not a great friend of 'lettuce' but always have some in the fridge - just so I get my quantum of 'greens'
but the heart of lettuce is truly delicious in a light vinaigrette and served ice-cold . . . . - my dear mother always kept that for me, when I visited.
That's the trouble when living alone, no-one about to spoil you a bit
take good care of yourself (but you do!!)
