OK, so you would have had to stay the hermit kingdom. COVID like Influenza will not go away ever with current technologies. But with vaccines the incidence of nasty effect, rapid death, is reduced quite a lot. Can't speak for long COVID inflammatory effects in the unhospitalised though, death or brain fog etc.
But can you find the numbers to actually quote from, you know from some authority, something from WA would be a useful choice that might match your story.
