"I think they were a bit arrogant with the local authorities and are now paying the price."

Choosie - what makes you say that? Are you a local or something?

Anyway, my take on this announcement is that while the Shire's decision not to approve the mining expansion under the "quarrying license" is a set back, in that it would probably be quicker and easier to proceed under this license, it is far from a mortal blow. I am confident they will be able to work through the approvals processes at the State Government level, given that the government is well disposed to this kind of development - as I have said before, the appointment of Barry Carbon as Chairman was a clever one and recognises that environmental approvals will be key to realising future growth plans, particularly around a Refinery. Will be interesting to see whether this will result in any revision of Q1 mining plans for next year? Interested to here more about their plans for developing other pits? Given their land holding, they must have huges options here.

On a day when the Dubai Govt has given the markets the sh.ts! over its ability to pay its debt, the SP has held up very well.

They'll be right (in my humble opinion, DYOR).
