Dubai is dodgy as hell. The indentured overseas workers are virtually slaves. Westerners who fall into debt are thrown in jail and cannot leave. The whole place is going to go bust and good riddance, I just hope it doesn't cause GFC part 2 if the bubble does burst. An important lesson in one of the many facets of sustainability.
This article from the Independent has been posted on HC before. I think it might have been on the CTO forum, I understand the the Citigold directors live in Dubai. That tells you everything really!
