Varadero is very heavy oil and a very large structure but with in the same geological unit. It’s shallower and hence why the oil is heavy, basically the oil is generated at lower temperatures and sits at the upper end of the oil window. The deeper reservoirs sit closer to the gas/condensate window and hence why the oil is lighter.
It will be interesting to see the reserve potential figures as all the important factors seem better then expected.
